ALBERT WILKINSON
Albert is remembered on the war memorial at Holy Trinity Church, Ipswich.
Born: 1917, Durham.
Died: 17th July 1944; age 27; KiA at Baron-sur-Ordon, Normandy.
Rank: Sergeant; Service Number: 3319968.
Regiment: Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment), 10th Battalion.
The 10th Battalion took part in the D-Day Normandy landings 1944.
The body was originally buried at Baron-sur-Odon. On the 23rd August 1945, the body was exhumed, identified and reburied at St. Manvieu War Cemetery.

In 1943, at Ipswich, Albert married Clara Ivy Grimwood, a tobacco cutter, born February 1921, Ipswich – daughter of John Frederick Grimwood, a gas stoker, and Edith Maria Grimwood (nee Coleman), of 59, Alston Road, Ipswich.
Albert is also commemorated on the British Normandy Memorial, virtually opened by His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, on the 6th June 2021.
