The original grave was discovered, and the body exhumed, identified and reburied at El Alamein War Cemetery on the 8th June 1943.

Edgar’s father, John Robert Rowland, died in 1939, Ipswich.

In 1933, in Ipswich, Edgar married Lilian Daisy Giles, born June 1912, Ipswich – daughter of George William Giles, a brewery labourer, and Ethel Giles (nee Flegg), of 10, Mason Street, Ipswich.

Lilian and Edgar had one son:
