Frederick was 22 years old, a soldier, ranked Gunner for the 85th Battery of the Royal Field Artillery.

Frederick’s father, Samuel Riches, died on the 12^th January 1902 at his home, 72, Wallace Road, Ipswich and was buried on the 16^th January in Section W at Ipswich Old Cemetery.

In May 1903, at St. Peter’s Church, Ipswich, Frederick’s 36 year old widowed mother, Emily Riches, married 27 year old James Rozier, a warehouseman, of Constantine Road, Ipswich. James Rozier was born in 1877, at Needham Market, Suffolk.

Frederick is also remembered on the war memorial at Springfield School, Ipswich and at Northgate High School. Formerly Ipswich Grammar School for Boys.
