Baptised: 15th June 1892 – St. Matthew’s Church, Ipswich. Parents – Emily & James Jackson – a Militia Bandsman – Trumpeter.
Assumed Dead: 1st July 1916; age 24; KiA.
Suffolk Chronicle and Mercury – Friday, 13th April 1917 – Information has just been received by Mrs. Stanley, of 45, Cavendish Street, Ipswich, that her son, Percival Jackson, of the York and Lancaster Regiment, previously reported missing in the great battle of the 1st July 1916, was killed in action on that date. His death will be deeply regretted as he was well-liked and greatly respected by all who knew him, and by his comrades of the band of the York and Lancaster Regiment, of which he was a Corporal for some time. Joining the Army as a boy, he was sent out to India at the age of fifteen, remaining in that country seven years, his eldest brother James being Sergeant of the same band. His youngest brother, Ernest, fighting by his side, was wounded on the same date, 1st July. He was sent home to England and recovered from his wound, and is now back again in France fighting: another brother, William, of the Royal Field Artillery, being also in the fighting line in France since the beginning of the war in 1914, having been three times wounded.
