GEOFFREY KINGDON MOSELEY
Born: 23rd August 1897, Ipswich.
Baptised on the 21st November 1899, at St. Margaret’s Church, Ipswich, with brother Arthur Channell Moseley, born 9th March 1898, and sister, Audrey Josephine Moseley, born 27th September 1899 – family home at 14, Northgate Street, Ipswich.
Died: 10th April 1918; age 21; KiA.
E.A.D.T. – Saturday, 20th April 1918 – CAPTAIN GEOFFREY K. MOSELEY – It is with great regret that we have to announce that news was received on Friday evening by Dr. and Mrs. Charles K. Moseley, of Northgate Street, Ipswich, that their son, Captain Geoffrey Kingdon Moseley, of the Suffolk Regiment, was killed in action on the 10th April. Captain Moseley, who was educated at Ipswich School, where he was a prominent member of the O.T.C., joined a battalion of the Suffolk Regiment in August 1914 and had been in France for the past twelve months.
The same evening, the information also came to hand that Second Lieutenant Arthur Channell Moseley, R.G.A., had been admitted to the 14th General Hospital, Wimereux, suffering from a severe gunshot wound in the right thigh. Like his brother, he was also an Old Ipswichian and a member of the O.T.C. He joined the Army in 1915 and had been at the Front for about nine months.

Gazetted Second Lieutenant in the 6th (Cyclist) Battalion, Suffolk Regiment in August 1914. Then, Temporary Captain in January 1917. Joined a battalion of the Suffolk Regiment in France, as Lieutenant, in May 1917, and was promoted Captain in June 1917.
Rank: Captain.

Geoffrey attended Ipswich School – entered the Preparatory School, May 1905, and was placed in Prep B. Promoted to Sixth Form, September 1913. He passed the London Matriculation in 1914 and also became a School Prefect. He was a splendid gymnast, being Captain of “Gym” in 1913 & 1914, and representing the School at Aldershot in both years. In 1909, he joined the O.T.C., and became a Sergeant in 1914, also gaining Certificate “A.” – Ipswich School magazine June 1918
Geoffrey’s sister, Daphne Ellen May Moseley, died very suddenly on the 8th April 1917, aged 13 years and 11 months and was buried on the 12th April in Section JA at Ipswich Old Cemetery.
